It is possible to reference the actual contents of a cell or range of cells from one document inside another document. IIRC, the function is importRange(longstringoflettersandnumbersdocID,startingcell:endingcell) don't quote me on that, though, it's been a while since I used it.

Yes, that's exactly what I said doesn't copy the /formulaic contents/, but rather the /final contents after all formulas are resolved/.

The thing is, that Google spreadsheets have certain limitations to them that already prohibit you from doing certain things. It doesn't work like other programming languages. The only way to change the content of a cell is to either change any cell content it refers to in a formula or change the content of that cell itself.
You would need a functionality that would allow you to change the content of a cell from somewhere else in a spreadsheet. And that doesn't exist as far as I know.
Also I once started a spell book like that, but stopped working on it after bad reception: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=469&hilit=book+magic
I have also been thinking about actually coding a GUI based character sheet in Java, because it would make things a lot easier.

Id like to thin there is quite a bit of interest out there now that the community is larger *Shrugs* And yeah, the spreadsheets are irritating, tried copy pasting from one sheet to another and even that doesnt copy the equation itself. I guess theres no real way to simplify these things for general use.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... 4X1E#gid=2

Heres what ive done for a character so far, and got a few basic imbuing spells on another character but irritatingly it seems i cant force a new line within the cell equation itself without getting a parse error. Again, im a noob at this sort of thing so if you can suggest methods for me to do this, force a new line within the cell so that basic, advanced, and expert spell descriptions can sit within the same cell without causing an error let me know. Feel free to edit the sheet.

In any programming language you would just have to add a "\n" string and you would be done. ^^ What you can try is this:
<part of the formula before the line break>&"<insert soft line break here (Shift+Enter)>"&<part of the formula behind the line break>

On another note: I will wait for roll20 to finish their character sheets. If those work fine, we can just use those. Otherwise I might actually be tempted to code one in Java. That could probably even be hosted on a server. Maybe Arcane would even allow us to do so here.

Just FYI, I started working on the Automated Sheet 2.0 again. I pretty much nears completion soon.

This is getting closer and closer to release. It has a lot of new features. The biggest one I think is probably that I made it a lot easier to be configured for different rules and to the GM's personal taste. There is a dedicated configuration page exactly for that purpose now.
If you want to have a look at it in it's current state, there you go: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing
I probably also need people to have a look at it anyway and maybe spot some errors I overlooked.

There seems to be some kind of issue with the formatting on most of the tabs, on my end.

If you mean by that no formatting at all on some tabs, that's because those are still WIP. What's pretty much done so far is Stats, Inventory and Character.
For the rest of the pages I still have to implement some features and the layout is not final because of that.
